AHF Opens First AIDS Hospice For Terminally Ill
With private and public funding, AHF opens the first full-service AIDS hospice in Los Angeles County. The organization provides housing and medical care to terminally ill AIDS patients at a time when they are treated like lepers. The 25-bed Chris Brownlie Hospice is located at Barlow Respiratory Hospital, down the street from Dodger Stadium. A front-door sign reads, “Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight, Women, Men, Black, Brown, White, Yellow, Red, Young and Old. All Are Welcome Here.”
